HEART ENGLISH SCHOOL APPLICATION PROCEDURE DETAILS

1) Please make sure you truly wish to be employed in Japan.
A) Review the FAQ on our website and the complaint boards on such teacher’s forums as http://www.daveseslcafe.com . Japan, international travel, and adventure can be an attractive force, but be prepared for the worst case before you commit a year of your life (and potentially some savings) to something. The complaint boards are just for that. People who write on them are those wanting to vent frustration. Some of them are truly justified, some of them are whiners who blame everyone else for life’s problems, but many of them are from good people who just did not understand the nature of what they were committing to.
B) Buy and read a book on Japanese culture, history, current business environment, and current international relations and interactions. If you do decide to seek employment in Japan, the information in it will be very useful.
C) Keep in mind that Japan is expensive. Very expensive. Also Japanese companies only pay once-a-month, so you will need enough saving to stretch to that first paycheck; approximately 6 weeks after you start working for a 1st of the month start date. See the FAQ for more on the expenses.
2) Visit one of our employment sources (above) and see if we are currently seeking employees. We have different positions to fill from time to time within our company, so it’s good to know what is available. Our most common position is a Semi-Full Time ALT position. These (ALT) positions start on the 1st of April or 1st of September. It is good to apply 3-4 months before the start date. Our other employment needs occur at different times throughout the year, so checking the employment websites often is good.
3) After you have read the adds, email me for more detailed information. Send me a Resume (CV), Cover letter, and if possible a photo. I will respond back with a detailed standard informational letter and any relevant comments
4) If things go well for you, we will begin a dialogue. Please re-read the FAQ. I like questions, and I consider the type of questions people ask. At some point we will have an official interview. If you live in Japan, we will interview you here at the Heart School and if you are overseas, the interview will be conducted by phone . In both cases you will have to take the initiative in visiting or calling us.
